The Coach house studio apartment is the beamed ceiling studio apartment, accessed by stairs. The bedroom with King bed is cooled by a ceiling fan and a small window air-conditioner which we ask you to turn off when you go out. It is located above a stand-alone building on the property. The almost square apartment has a charming little alcove garden where you can sit in the shade and read, or dine with a nice table and chairs for meals. From the studio, there is a restricted view of the bay due to trees, however the property itself offers phenomenal water views.
There is a new kitchenette (with large fridge and freezer, oven, toaster and microwave) and a three piece bathroom – shower only. From the windows, one has a spectacular view of the Little and Great Sounds, and the pleasure of the sound of water slapping the dock and the reinforced seawalls. The Studio apartment has a landline phone, and while the unit itself does not have wireless internet, it can be access from on the property.
The 2 bedroom apartment is attached to the main house and has a kitchen: a microwave oven, large fridge, two burner hot plate, toaster oven so you can bake, coffee maker. A large electric frying pan with cover and a barbeque. 4 burner stove with oven in 2 bedroom apartment. Hibachi available for outdoor cooking. There is a freezer in the main house where extra meat can be stored by guests.
The bedrooms have one Queen and one King bed. There is a separate bathroom, pretty garden access, and balcony views over the water. This suite will suit the guests who desire peace and a spectacular view above all else. Internet access from the 2 bedroom apartment only: guests will need to bring their own laptop. There is no landline in this apartment, but the owner kindly provides a cell phone for use during your stay.
NEARBY ATTRACTIONS
Swimming from the dock is pleasant. However, the nearest sandy beach would be West Whale Bay, a very small cove strewn with seashells and with a gentle surf.
The beach is about a ten minute leisurely walk from the house. Alternatively, one can catch the South Shore bus and proceed along to Church Bay or Horseshoe Bay, where umbrellas, beach chairs etc. can be rented and a concession stand operates. In the winter months, take your own little picnic to be sure of the necessary sustenance when required.
For those who enjoy a walk, the Old Bermuda Railway scenic trails run practically next door. Somerset Village is nearby – a charming hamlet with pretty shops and nice restaurants to enjoy. Beyond the village is the Naval Dockyard with Bermuda’s maritime history preserved for your edification and located on a headland with the most extraordinary views of the length of the island. Dockyard also features pretty craft shops and artisans at work, excellent books on the island, pottery etc. and a wide array of pubs, cafes and luxurious carriage trade stores to browse through. The ferry stops here too so you can hop aboard and take a leisurely cruise back into Hamilton with your mopeds in the hold. There are grocery stores nearby, as well as all the usual facilities for sailing, snorkeling, scuba diving, and water skiing, fishing and para-sailing near Somerset Bridge and Ireland Island. Tennis and golf courses are conveniently located as well, and motor cycles can be delivered right to your front door.
There are a number of large and small hotels in the vicinity with fine dining rooms you can enjoy for that special evening out. This property is also close to W22, W15, W01 , W10 and W07 for guests who want to be near friends, but on their own. All over the island are pretty little cafes where a nice lunch can be had in comfort indoors or out. Small grocery stores are located in every parish, and many of them will deliver groceries as well as beer, wine and spirits: just ask your hostess for the telephone number of the obliging outlet nearby.
