We invite you to come and stay with us in our lovely 110 year old home in the eastern end of this beautiful island. Our pretty double bedroom with an additional double bedroom can sleep up to 4 guests and has fine south facing views over the water. It has a lovely garden which is adorned with local plants, trees and rose bushes.
The house was built with high ceilings and tall windows facing south across the harbour to stay cool in summer and warm in winter. There are 2 bedrooms, each has a queen-size bed, ceiling fan, and an AC. The sitting room has a lovely view across St. George's harbour and is furnished with a microwave, small fridge, TV and comfortable chairs. Your bathroom has a full bath and shower. * Please note that both bedrooms are rented to friends or family groups, as the bathroom is shared. The home owner cooks a delicious breakfast for you! There is internet available, please bring your own computer or tablet!
If you stay for more than 3 days you will have use of our laundry facilities. You may want to eat your meals, as we do, outside on the flower filled patio under the shady mahogany tree, or on the cool veranda.
We will do everything to make your time here as perfect as possible. We love to give our guests a tour of the neighbourhood. We'll take you to the store for any food shopping you may want to do, show you the way to the beach, get bus tickets and teach you how to use the bus service. If we can improve your vacation in any way we will try our best to do so! Beach towels, picnic and snorkel gear, cool bags, are all available should you need them. We will even pack a picnic lunch for you upon request, for a small charge. And of course we will drive you to the grocery store for supplies.
The house is close enough to walk to the old town providing easy access for shopping and restaurants, bars, moped rentals, and the ferry. We can advise you what to see, where to go and how to get there, including places off the beaten track, whether you prefer to travel by bus or ferry, hired motor bike, or taxi. We also offer a four hour tour which can include: a trip to a charming, little known beach, a few of the famous beaches and Gibbs Hill lighthouse, the town of Hamilton, or a tour of the forts around St. George. Coffee and snacks will be provided during this trip!
There is a bus stop just outside the property with routes running into St. Georges and Hamilton every 10-15 minutes. The St. George ferry to Hamilton is a short walk away.
The former capital of Bermuda, the Town of St. George’s, is just a leisurely 10 minute walk away, but it will take you back 400 years to 1612. Significant attractions include: St. Peters Church, The Stella Maris Catholic Church, St. George’s Town Square, The Unfinished Church, Fort St. Catherines, The Deliverance Ship Replica in the Town Square, the Bermuda Perfumery and Somers Gardens. The town of St. George’s is the oldest continuously occupied settlement in the English New World.
Snorkeling and swimming at nearby beaches includes some dazzling, rarely visited ones – especially the suite of flawless beaches at Coopers Island Nature Reserve. Tobacco Bay is a 10 minute walk from the town centre and St. Catherine’s Beach and Blackbeard’s Beach are both a 15 minute walk. Clearwater Beach leads you to the gates of the new 77 acre park called Cooper’s Island.
There is a ferry service from St. George’s into Hamilton as well: please check the schedules on the For Your Information page for times of departure and return. As the island is only 22 miles long, even at the sedate pace of 14 to 20 miles an hour, you can explore the entire island comfortably from your taxi, on the mopeds or by public transportation. These services include excellent bus and ferry service into Hamilton and a mini bus service which will come and collect you for a modest fee.
The St. George’s mini-bus (office: 297-8492, bus: 297-8199) travels around the area, and can pick up and drop off right outside the door (for a nominal fee)
