Our new listing has jaw-dropping views out over the South Shore ocean, ready access to the sea for snorkelling, and a gorgeous pool – all located in a quiet neighbourhood near fine dining, good bus routes and the cozy little pink sandy beach at West Whale Bay roughly 1.5 miles away. About 2.5 miles away, the larger beach at Church Bay awaits you. Ideal for those looking to relax, with panoramic ocean views, a private deck where you may enjoy a coffee as the fishing fleet head out, and a glass of wine as they chug back in. This location is ideal for the avid golfer and sports enthusiast as the premises is close to Port Royal golf course (not half a mile away) and the water-sports center at Somerset Bridge (3 miles approx). The house is located at the end of a quiet street about 650 metres from the bus stop and a grocery store. The house is air-conditioned throughout.

Heat and air-conditioning. Ceiling fans in living-room and bedroom.

The Master bedroom is on the main level and has a King bed. On the pool level there is a Queen bed in the second bedroom, a Queen bed in the third bedroom and a Queen bed and a double bed in the fourth bedroom. Please note there are no windows in the fourth bedroom as this was the media room before renovations. An inflatable mattress (queen-sized) is also available.

3.5 Bathrooms: Powder room off living room; Master bedroom has a private bathroom with shower and Jacuzzi; 3 bedrooms share 1 bath with shower/tub combination; exterior pool bathroom with shower available.

Kitchen: full sized appliances including refrigerator with ample freezer space; 4 burner stove and oven, microwave, toaster, blender, kettle, coffee maker (standard drip and a Keurig), dishwasher, and electric stove. Laundry facilities available for stays of over 7 nights: washer and dryer, iron & ironing board. A hair dryer is provided.

Access to the ocean from W59 is down a set of  tiered grassed in stairs, shown in the photos. At the waters edge there are access steps into the sea from the rocks. The beautiful  crystal clear very shallow  water has a sandy bottom- not rocky. There is no sand  on the shoreline exposed at low tide, but  towels can be laid on the springy greenery on the shore if you want to lie there and sunbathe. Alternatively, one can sunbathe in the chaises around the pool.

Patio furniture +umbrella to suit 6 and gas BBQ (turn off the gas when you are done please!). Bed and bath linens provided plus beach towels. No beach chairs.

The house is ideally suited for a family or adults traveling together to celebrate a very special occasion. Furnished with a modern flair, with accessories such as a large flat screen television, cable, and wireless internet, the house is set-up for the today’s electronic traveler. Infants who cannot crawl can be accommodated if you bring your own carry cot (we can rent one for you but it’s expensive!) but not toddlers due to the large numbers of stairs on the property.

There is a supplentary unit being added to the property. It will include a studio unit with a King bed, large couch, table for 2, full kitchen and bathroom with a shower only. Pricing TBA.

If guests would like maid service, the rate would be $30 an hour and it must be arranged in advance. Please note- there will be a minimum service charge of 3 hours.

Pompano Resort, The Reefs, and The Fairmont Southampton Hotel *CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS* is near the property and they offer a selection of different dining options including French, Italian, Asian Fusion, and the highly regarded Gastro Pub. For a more intimate feel there is The Dining Room at Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse and Henry VIII on the South Shore – both independent restaurants offering a broad menu selection and the famous Swizzle Inn as well as the new Gulfstream dining establishment right across the road from the beach.

Sargasso Sea has an app for online delivery from most restaurants island wide and there is also Four Star Pizza.

For the golfer Port Royal, The Belmont Golf Course, and the par 3 course at the Fairmont Southampton *CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS* are all easily accessible and there is a floodlit driving range that is located nearby as well. The watersports center at Somerset Bridge offers scuba diving, jet ski, kayak, and small boat rentals. For those that are after more of an aerobic workout the Bermuda Railway Trail is very accessible providing a scenic walking/running route in a traffic-free environment. Hog Bay Park and Scaur Bay, two of Bermuda’s National Parks are nearby as well as the wonderful Vesey Nature Reserve. These parks show you otherwise invisible sections of Bermuda- farms, wild coastline, secret coves- and other friendly walkers happy to stop and say hello! The Railway Trail, a meandering paved pathway through the countryside you can explore on foot or by moped runs intermittently through the island. The Trail is the land right of way owned by the government for long defunct railway system. No cars or trucks are allowed upon it, so the amble will take you through beautiful park like settings overlooking the water and the interesting new and ancient farms and homes and gardens you would not otherwise notice. For those that enjoy cycling pedal bike rentals can be arranged at the various cycle liveries (we recommend  Smatt’s Cycle Shop at the Fairmont Southampton location *CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS*) and storage is available for those that choose to bring their own bikes.

Whale Bay and the stunning Church Bay offer wonderful South Shore snorkelling opportunities as well as pink, shell strewn beaches to explore. The famous ones such as Horseshoe Bay and Warwick Long Bay are renowned, but you will not want to miss the stunning trio of secret coves tucked between those two larger beaches – Chaplin Bay, Stonehole Bay and Jobson’s Cove. These three are the last word in romantic pink sand and gentle surf in splendid seclusion. Snorkeling equipment can be rented at several of the larger beaches such as Horseshoe. Slightly closer than Hamilton for fine dining are the excellent facilities of The Reefs Resort in Southampton: their open-air Coconuts restaurant overlooking their private silvery sand beach will arrange a table on the beach with candles, full linens and silverware and delectable meal for your never-to-be-forgotten evening celebration. Fine dining would include Cambridge Beaches in Somerset  as well as nice roadside cafes for breakfast or lunch.

A Sandy’s location is considered to be a very attractive option for visitors. Although the locations in the closest proximity to the beaches of the South Shore tend to be in the most demand, the 23 mile length of the island and its width of less than a mile in most places means that access to those beaches is easy by bus or by moped, and that’s only after you have savoured the pretty beaches in the immediate area…

Sandys has the advantage of being close to ferry stops at Rockaway (20 min walk away), and the charming village of Somerset where shops and cafes makes lingering for a while a very pleasant diversion. The remarkable renovated installation at the Naval Dockyard property (a British Navy base built in the early 1820’s) has created a plaza and shopping concourse as well as a series of excellent museums, pubs, artists workshops, book stores and the like as well as the hugely popular DOLPHIN QUEST operation- and another ferry stop as well as a terminus for the bus system. These shops and museums operations are all neatly contained in spectacularly restored historic buildings dotted throughout a park setting on the furthest west end of the island. Fast ferries and buses depart and arrive from the Dockyard facility all day long. The views from The Commissioner’s House are from one end of the island to another, with ocean liners sedately negotiating the Two Rock Passage, the sole opening in the reefs large enough to provide safe access to Hamilton Harbour. A visit to Bermuda without seeing Dockyard would not be complete.

The City of Hamilton also has lovely places to dine and shop, and in the summer months through to October, Harbour Nights on Front Street on Wednesday evenings is a sparkling outdoor market event. The city is easily reached by bus, ferry or moped, with taxis available to whisk you away home at the end of the evening.

We encourage you to bring along a box of frozen and prepared treats. You can import all foodstuffs for personal use without difficulty providing you do not bring in fresh produce or fresh seafood. Bringing coffee, tea, biscuits, condiments, tinned and packaged delectables as well as frozen steaks and fish will save you time, trouble and expense upon arrival. On your way in from the airport, I suggest you have your taxi driver stop off at the nearest market to pick up perishables such as milk, eggs and baked goods.
