The house is situated on a generous portion of land, attractively landscaped with a lovely sheltered pool. It is protected by a low fence, making this property safe for guests with young children.

There is a king bed that can be split into two twins as well as a day bed with a pop up trundle bed for a 3rd and 4th guest. The apartment has a kitchen which is well-equipped with a fridge, stove, cooking utensils, coffee maker (standard drip), kettle, microwave and toaster. In the den there is a flat screen TV provided with cable. Wireless internet is available and there is also a gas BBQ available, which is shared. An iron, ironing board and hair dryer are provided for your use. Please bring your own beach towels.

Since this is a self-sufficient unit, no maid service is provided. A highchair, pack n play and playpen sheets can be made available to those who need them. Laundry facilities can be made available to guests staying longer than 1 week. For shorter stays, there is a laundromat less than 5 minutes away.

Nearby Attractions

Located half way between St. George’s and the main city of Hamilton (each approximately 20 minutes away), the closest beach is about 5 minutes up the South Shore Road at John Smith’s Bay via mopeds or the bus. There is bus service up and down Collectors Hill where you can connect to the South Shore bus that will take you over to John Smith’s Bay, or the tranquil Devonshire Bay, into Hamilton, or on to St. George’s.

There are two bus services to choose from the Middle Road and the South Shore routes.

Shopping in the neighbourhood includes a supermarket at the junction of Collectors Hill and the South Shore Road, where there is a pharmacy and a great little family style café called The Speciality Inn. Harrington Hundreds is another nearby supermarket with a fine selection of gourmet items, as well as liquor, beer and wine. They will deliver to the house for a fee. 

Drycleaners, a pizza parlour and a Post Office are also nearby. Flatts Village is five minutes away by bus or mopeds (and is delightful village) with nice places to eat (Rusticos is particularly pleasant), gift and other shops as well as the Aquarium and Zoo. Sports activities include tennis courts (which can be booked at reasonable rates) at Grotto Bay Resort, which is 10 minutes away by bus.

Golfers will enjoy the St. George’s Club and Ocean View in Devonshire. Mid- Ocean Golf Course is also available to non members from time to time: phone the morning you wish to go to see if there any slots open for you.

Spittal Pond is a south shore park on the way to John Smith’s Bay that features a salt-water marsh and a spectacular section of the rugged rocky coastline. Here one can see the initial and the date of 1543 carved in stone at Spanish Rock. Hiking is enjoyable at Ferry Reach and St. David’s Head, two of the larger and more interesting parks. Swimming and snorkelling are good on most beaches. However, Shelly Bay Beach (10 minutes away) is very safe, never has an undertow (as do many of the more turbulent South Shore beaches) and the caves around the headland offer excellent snorkelling. Tobacco Bay in St. George’s is a great beach year round – sheltered and with marvellous numbers of fish. Diving, sailing and windsurfing are all available at Grotto Bay and Castle Harbour, which are nearby.

PLEASE NOTE: The latest bus from Hamilton to the bus stop near this property leaves at 6:15 PM. Taxi costs $16.00 to Hamilton HOWEVER buy the bus passes and please note that you can take the #10 or #11 bus back from Hamilton or St. George’s late at night to Flatts and the taxi fare back to the house is only $8 + tip. Scooters are useful at this location.
