Nearby Attractions

PLEASE NOTE: Moped rentals are useful at this location. Bus service to the door stops after 5pm- HOWEVER buy the bus passes and please note that you can take the #10 or #11 bus back from Hamilton or St. George’s late at night to Flatts and the taxi fare back to the house is only approximately $8 + tip.

Mopeds can be rented from Smatt’s Cycle Livery. Shopping in the neighbourhood includes a supermarket at the junction of Collectors Hill and the South Shore Road, where there is a pharmacy and a great little family style café called The Speciality Inn. They will be happy to serve you delicious home cooked meals at very reasonable prices. The Northrock Brewery Pub is also in the neighbourhood. Harrington Hundreds is another nearby supermarket with a fine selection of gourmet items including specialty items including gluten free products etc., as well as liquor, beer and wine. They will deliver to the house for a fee. You pass Harrington Hundreds Grocery Store on the way to John Smith’s Bay, so stop in and pick up fresh bread, cheese and some cool drinks for the beach. Drycleaners, a pizza parlour and a Post Office are also nearby.

Flatts Village is five minutes away by bus or mopeds (and is delightful village) with nice places to eat (Rusticos is particularly pleasant), gift and other shops, as well as the Aquarium and Zoo – a charming and rather fascinating display of fish, turtles and birds, as well as an absorbing museum and geology section.

Perfect setting and exceptional hosts

We spent a week in C49 while our friends who were new to Bermuda stayed in C49A. The layout at this home lends itself very well to two couples traveling together. The large covered patio connecting the two living spaces overlooks the pool and includes a gas grill where we prepared and enjoyed most of our meals. The location of the home is private and central to the island so we were able to show our friends our favorite places from St. George’s to Sandys. We can not say enough about the friendliness and hospitality offered by the owners. They are truly exceptional.

Thank you and all your Bermuda Rentals colleagues for your assistance in arranging our recent holiday; the first trip for both of us to Bermuda. I would not hesitate to recommend your website and staff service to friends and colleagues who may also wish to plan a visit. The information on the website is extremely helpful (although the lack of pavements on the main roads has to be experienced to really be believed!) [The home owners] were lovely, welcoming hosts and their cottage more than met our expectations. It contained everything we could need. I was spoiled with sole use of the swimming pool and it was very relaxing sunbathing in their lovely garden. Mory and Rome were on occasion watchful swimming attendants, pacing up and down at the edge as I swam and were both very cute. [The owner] gave us yummy Bermuda Rum cake on our arrival, a card and roses from the garden for my birthday (a perfect choice as we both love roses) and some more yummy cookies during our stay. [The owner’s] trips with us to the MarketPlace at Collector’s Hill the evening we arrived and to the Post Office at Flatts the next day to collect our bus passes were extremely helpful and also assisted us in gaining our bearings. We hugely enjoyed using the buses. Bermudians are so very friendly and helpful. Everyone saying ‘good morning’ to each other and being so kind really does make the world feel a better place. The bus drivers would guide us as to the best place to change buses, passengers acted as impromptu tourist guides and I naughtily listened in to a conversation between 2 elderly ladies as we drove back one tea time. They were putting the world to rights and, with their deep accents, I could have listened forever. We enjoyed the vibrancy of Hamilton (and the businessmen in their bright Bermuda shorts!) and seeing Marks & Spencer so out of its usual context; the quaint streets of St Georges and the interesting cemetery; the ferry trip from Dockyard to Hamilton; watching the kite flying in the Botanical Gardens; the very expressive fish and the flamingos in the Aquarium & Zoo; the magical colours of the sky, sea & beach at John Smith’s Bay as the sun came out after a deluge – that really was special. Best of all for me was our trip to Gibbs Hill Lighthouse. We avoided the crowds and it was a brilliant Bermuda sunny day. Despite the vertigo inducing outer walkway at the top, I made it carefully around the outside, but better admired the wonderful views from the safety of the inside. We certainly proved on our visit that ‘Bermuda is so much more than its beaches’. Yes, we visited John Smith’s Bay on our final day, but we filled our time exploring the other many wonderful places to visit. Mr Wade and Mr Zuill were both very attentive taxi drivers, who entertained us with details about their island. I cannot end without commenting on the tree frogs. We freed several from their venture into the cottage in the evenings and could not believe that something so small could make so much noise. To us it felt a very peaceful, relaxing sound and we have an IPad recording of it to remind ourselves. Once again, thank you to all your team and the home owners and their family for making our first trip to Bermuda so special and memorable.

What a beautiful place to spend our 40th wedding anniversary! This was our 6th trip to Bermuda & we loved everything about the cottage, the location, the grounds but most especially the owners who went out of their way to ensure that we had a perfect vacation. Debbie drove us to the food market & to pick up our moped on the first day & gave us a warm Bermuda welcome with wine & rum cake, yum! We also enjoyed a great walking tour of Spittal Pond with Debbie who surprised us with candy & a balloon on our anniversary. We had a wonderful week and will always have happy memories of our time on this beautiful island. The owners embody the true Bermuda spirit of welcome!

Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful! Cutest cottage with all the comforts of home … it was like staying at a private resort with beautifully landscaped grounds and a gorgeous pool. The kitchen is completely furnished to make any meal/snack down to the smallest detail like coffee maker liners, salt and pepper shakers, and other condiments, etc. The bedroom is just perfect with a comfy queen size bed and light and airy decor. The bathroom has thick soft towels, bar soaps, shampoos, and even a box of bandaids. The owners were so kind and caring. They truly wanted to be certain that we enjoyed our stay. The day we arrived while we were waiting for our mopeds to be delivered, we were given a ride to the local supermarket to pick up our groceries. We came back to the cottage to find bottled wine and a yummy piece of homemade rum cake. And the location couldn’t have been better, Right about the center of the island not too far from Tobacco Bay for snorkeling, close to Hamilton (but not too close) and close to all of the south shore beaches. Amazing vacation down to the smallest details. We would highly recommend staying here.
