With a maximum occupancy of two guests, this 600 square-foot apartment is suitable for a couple or two singles. There is a queen sized bed as well as a pull out sofa bed. Some of the amenities included are: WOW TV service, WiFi internet, HVAC, laundry facilities (washer & dryer), complete kitchen. There is a single bar stool in the kitchen and exterior small PVC table and 4 chairs. The apartment has a 24″ flat screen with a DVD player. A small weber type kettle BBQ can be procured if you’d like it.
Our beautiful apartment is located in pretty gardens in a very upmarket neighborhood on the fabled South Shore in Smith’s Parish. 6 minutes east of the house by bus or moped is John Smith’s Bay. John Smith’s Bay is a well-kept local secret- a quiet beach with deep soft pink sands that slope into quiet waters without the buffeting of heavy wave action or undertows. Smith’s Parish is adjacent to the Hamilton Parish enclave of the rich and famous in Tucker’s Town- you’ll enjoy touring this area with its magnificent homes, vast wooded hills and the sweeping golf courses: lunch or dinner can be enjoyed at the Tucker’s Point Resort or at Tom Moore’s Tavern or at Indigo’s or Rustico’s in Flatts Village when you feel like an elegant night out,.
Bus stop heading west to Hamilton is just a couple of minutes walk away near St. Marks Church. Nearby (5 minutes by bus and 15 minutes walking) is a good grocery store at the foot of Collectors Hill (a pharmacy is located there as well). Specialty Inn, a family style restaurant is in the same mini plaza at the crossroads of South Shore Road and Collector’s Hill. Flatts Village is also about 5 minutes ride away overland: Rustico, one of the best Italian restaurants on the island is located in the village as is Pizza Chef (they do home deliveries) and a fantastic sandwich shop. The 1926 Aquarium is a small zoo and museum with an exceptional set of displays and a lovely gift and book shop and cafe… the tidal wash under the little bridge at Flatts and the outlet from Harrington Sounds is always interesting to observe. Other good restaurants in the area would include dining facilities at the Tucker’s Point Resort.
PLEASE NOTE: Bus service stops after 6pm. However purchase ferry- bus passes and remember that you can take the #10 or #11 bus back from Hamilton or St. George’s late at night to Flatts Village and the taxi fare back to the house is only $12.00 approximately plus tip.
Always walk facing traffic as sidewalks in Bermuda are infrequent and small children should always be in collapsible strollers. Spittal Pond Nature Reserve is an extraordinary park: migratory birds flock to the marsh, sunk between the coastal hills and the ridge along which the South Road meanders. If you enjoy hiking, pick up the Davidson tour book featured on the website. Bermuda has an Arboretum, The Underwater Institute, Crystal Caves, the Botanical Gardens to investigate and no end of fascinating out of the way areas most visitors never get to see… There are PLENTY of taxis at the airport- but we have a few we like to refer you to because they have provided exceptional services to guests in the past.
Bus-ferry passes are purchased at Post offices- or at the Aquarium and it is a good idea to stop the taxi and run in to purchase them on your way in from the airport…
You do not need to worry about having to purchase water, but we do try to conserve all the time. Please- no long showers and don’t leave water running while washing dishes or brushing teeth! As far as electricity consumption is concerned, the air-conditioning is the big ticket item. Please switch it off when you head out for the day: it will only take a few minutes to restore comfort on your return.
