E36 is a fine stately home constructed in 1815 in the Georgian tradition, arguably the most imposing of all private residences in St. George’s. It is set back from the road by a broad expanse of lawn. The double-tiered balcony gives it a view to the south across St. George’s harbor including an unobstructed view of St. Peter’s Church, the oldest English-speaking church in continuous use in the Western Hemisphere.

There have been very few alterations to the original building but an addition was made to the northern precinct. The slave quarters on the lower level have seen few changes since they were vacated in 1834. The house is located almost in the center of the Towne St. George’s, a residential town which dates back to 1612. This historic home is within the Preservation Area of the Towne which is also a World Heritage Site.

The property is surrounded by high walls and there are a number of rare and endemic plants, including Bermuda cedars, yellow wood, Norfolk pines, snowberry, hibiscus, fig trees, aloe plants, night blooming cereus, palm trees, Poinciana and many other tropical and subtropical plants. There are also vegetable and flower gardens where you can see Bermuda Easter Lilies, sugar cane, several varieties of fruit trees, roses in many different colours and other interesting plants propagated by the owner. Vegetables in the garden may include Bermuda onions, beets, corn, carrots, zucchini, cucumber, potatoes, Swiss chard, tomatoes and various spices, depending on the season.

The rental unit is located on the southwest corner of level 2 and includes a full kitchen with apartment-sized stove and refrigerator (with freezer), plus a dining area. The kitchen is equipped with a microwave, coffee-maker, kettle, toaster, cooking utensils, pots and pans, baking dishes, cutlery and crockery. You will find everything you need for meal preparation. From the kitchen there are views of the gardens and St. Peter’s Church. As a unique bonus, you can enjoy your meals on the very large balcony, right outside the south-facing kitchen window where a table and chairs have been provided. The views of the garden are spectacular and can be enjoyed at any time of the day. This is a favourite spot for our guests. A BBQ is available for you on the balcony as well!

There are two very spacious bedrooms, each with two single beds which can easily be converted into a king-sized bed. There is ample closet and drawer space. There are beautiful views from each bedroom, and a writing desk and chair have been included in each. The bedrooms can each accommodate two persons and have heat and air-conditioning. These A/C units are powerful enough to cool the whole apartment, or heat it in the cooler winter season.

This unit has a huge bathroom with shower/tub enclosure, toilet and sink unit. A hair dryer, bath towels, beach towels, wash cloths, and hand towels will be provided. In this very comfortable apartment (your home away from home) there is a living room with the original hearth and a sofa bed which can be used to accommodate additional guests, up to a maximum of five. Children are welcome, although it is important for parents to monitor them closely on this expansive property. Amazon FireTV stick, wireless internet (215Mbps download, 50Mbps upload), and a cell phone for making local calls will be provided. There are no laundry facilities on site, but there is a public laundromat nearby. The nearest bus stops are on York Street opposite Ebenezer Methodist Church.

Perfect place with great homeowners

The apartment is located in a beautiful historic home centrally located within easy walking distance to the grocery store, ice cream shop, restaurants, shopping, beaches, and historic sights in St George. It’s also easy walking distance to the bus stop to access the rest of Bermuda’s spectacular offerings. We found the people of Bermuda warm and helpful, but none more so than our hosts. We were greeted upon arrival and were well cared for throughout our stay. They picked up dinner from a local restaurant for us during our quarantine period. They provided a cell phone for our stay. They even offered to take us to the airport if the taxi was delayed. We particularly enjoyed our conversations with them during our visit. We intended to stay in a completely different location of the island, but the cancelation by the owner just days before our arrival proved to be a blessing for the many reasons stated above.

Great place in town of St. George's

Lovely older home, with large porch. The apartment was clean and spacious. The owners were warm and welcoming, and we had many lovely conversations. We put the porch to good use during the days as a refuge from the sun, and in the evenings as a place to meet and dine with family and friends. Centrally located a very short walk from center of town. We rented Twizy's and there was a charging station and dedicated parking for the Twizy directly across the road from the home. We stayed two weeks during our daughters wedding festivities. Many of our family and friends stayed at locations in and around St. George's, which they rented through Bermuda Rentals. All were happy with their accommodations, their hosts and the service they received from everyone at Bermuda Rentals. A destination wedding for 160 guests is no small undertaking and I contacted Bermuda Rentals frequently during the planning to ensure I was matching our guests to the property best suited for them. They were patient and helpful to a fault. They helped me work through small glitches (not of their making) and rectified the issues for me. I greatly appreciate all of their help. Many of our guests had never been to Bermuda and this was a lovely experience for them. Many are saying they will be back soon and often! I look forward to using Bermuda Rentals services again!

Great place

We had a good stay at E36.The house is located in the center of St George's, close to a shop, the bus stop, the ferry terminal, and 10-15 min walk to the beaches. The apartment is spacious and furnished with antiques. Beds were very comfortable. The patio offered some well needed breeze in the evenings. The hosts were very kind to us. Our only recommendation would be to add AC in the kitchen as currently it is installed in the bedrooms only. We would choose to stay there again.

Lovely Home and Host

My Friends and I stayed here for 4 wonderful nights in paradise.The couple that hosted us were amazing and made us feel right at home. We arrived pretty late at night and our host waited up for us and gave us a small tour along with recommendations on where to eat and explore. The house was clean, spacious, and stocked with everything we needed. There were towel warmers in each room which I thought was such a nice and thoughtful touch. The house itself is historic and close to other historical landmarks. It's within walking distance to St. Georges square where there are plenty of shops, food, and access to the bus. Our flight back home was delayed and our hosts were gracious enough to accommodate us. I would recommend this home to anyone looking to stay in a safe, relaxing place to enjoy Bermuda.

Wonderful time

We had an absolutely wonderful time in Bermuda. It was my 9th time and this visit was special. The couple that owns the house with the apartment that we rented were extremely nice to us. We were actually the first renters for their apartment. They really wanted to please us and they surely did. It was very convenient to everything in St. George.
