Fresh water pool. NO SMOKING. Internet available and local telephone service. Cable TV & air-conditioning. Laundry.

Our new listing has jaw-dropping views out over the South Shore ocean, ready access to the sea for snorkelling, and a gorgeous pool – all located in a quiet neighbourhood near fine dining, good bus routes and the cozy little pink sandy beach at West Whale Bay roughly 1.5 miles away. About 2.5 miles away, the larger beach at Church Bay awaits you. Ideal for those looking to relax, with panoramic ocean views, a private deck where you may enjoy a coffee as the fishing fleet head out, and a glass of wine as they chug back in. This location is ideal for the avid golfer and sports enthusiast as the premises is close to Port Royal golf course (not half a mile away) and the water-sports center at Somerset Bridge (3 miles approx). The house is located at the end of a quiet street about 650 metres from the bus stop and a grocery store. The house is air-conditioned throughout.

Heat and air-conditioning. Ceiling fans in living-room and bedroom.

The Master bedroom is on the main level and has a King bed. On the pool level there is a Queen bed in the second bedroom, a Queen bed in the third bedroom and a Queen bed and a double bed in the fourth bedroom. Please note there are no windows in the fourth bedroom as this was the media room before renovations. An inflatable mattress (queen-sized) is also available.

3.5 Bathrooms: Powder room off living room; Master bedroom has a private bathroom with shower and Jacuzzi; 3 bedrooms share 1 bath with shower/tub combination; exterior pool bathroom with shower available.

Kitchen: full sized appliances including refrigerator with ample freezer space; 4 burner stove and oven, microwave, toaster, blender, kettle, coffee maker (standard drip), dishwasher, and electric stove. Laundry facilities available for stays of over 7 nights: washer and dryer, iron & ironing board. A hair dryer is provided.

Access to the ocean from W59 is down a set of tiered grassed in stairs, shown in the photos. At the waters edge there are access steps into the sea from the rocks. The beautiful crystal clear very shallow water has a sandy bottom- not rocky. There is no sand on the shoreline exposed at low tide, but towels can be laid on the springy greenery on the shore if you want to lie there and sunbathe. Alternatively, one can sunbathe in the chaises around the pool.

Patio furniture +umbrella to suit 6 and gas BBQ (turn off the gas when you are done please!). Bed and bath linens provided plus beach towels. No beach chairs.

The house is ideally suited for a family or adults traveling together to celebrate a very special occasion. Furnished with a modern flair, with accessories such as a large flat screen television, cable, and wireless internet, the house is set-up for the today’s electronic traveler. Infants who cannot crawl can be accommodated if you bring your own carry cot (we can rent one for you but it’s expensive!) but not toddlers due to the large numbers of stairs on the property.

Pompano Resort, The Reefs, and The Fairmont Southampton Hotels are near the property and they offer a selection of different dining options including French, Italian, Asian Fusion, and the highly regarded Gastro Pub. For a more intimate feel there is The Dining Room at Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse and Henry VIII on the South Shore – both independent restaurants offering a broad menu selection and the famous Swizzle Inn as well as the new Gulfstream dining establishment right across the road from the beach.

For the golfer Port Royal, The Belomost Golf Course, and the par 3 course at the Fairmont Southampton are all easily accessible and there is a floodlit driving range that is located nearby as well. The watersports center at Somerset Bridge offers scuba diving, jet ski, kayak, and small boat rentals. For those that are after more of an aerobic workout the Bermuda Railway Trail is very accessible providing a scenic walking/running route in a traffic-free environment. Hog Bay Park and Scaur Bay, two of Bermuda’s National Parks are nearby as well as the wonderful Vesey Nature Reserve. These parks show you otherwise invisible sections of Bermuda- farms, wild coastline, secret coves- and other friendly walkers happy to stop and say hello! The Railway Trail, a meandering paved pathway through the countryside you can explore on foot or by moped runs intermittently through the island. The Trail is the land right of way owned by the government for long defunct railway system. No cars or trucks are allowed upon it, so the amble will take you through beautiful park like settings overlooking the water and the interesting new and ancient farms and homes and gardens you would not otherwise notice. For those that enjoy cycling pedal bike rentals can be arranged at the various cycle liveries (we recommend Smatt’s Cycle Shop at the Fairmont Southampton location) and storage is available for those that choose to bring their own bikes.

Whale Bay and the stunning Church Bay offer wonderful South Shore snorkelling opportunities as well as pink, shell strewn beaches to explore. The famous ones such as Horseshoe Bay and Warwick Long Bay are renowned, but you will not want to miss the stunning trio of secret coves tucked between those two larger beaches – Chaplin Bay, Stonehole Bay and Jobson’s Cove. These three are the last word in romantic pink sand and gentle surf in splendid seclusion. Snorkeling equipment can be rented at several of the larger beaches such as Horseshoe. Slightly closer than Hamilton for fine dining are the excellent facilities of The Reefs Resort in Southampton: their open-air Coconuts restaurant overlooking their private silvery sand beach will arrange a table on the beach with candles, full linens and silverware and delectable meal for your never-to-be-forgotten evening celebration. Another wonderful dining location is the Waterlot Inn near the Fairmont Southampton Hotel, on the banks of the harbour – gorgeous outdoor patio and fabulous cuisine. Fine dining would include Cambridge Beaches in Somerset and the various dining rooms associated with the Fairmont Southampton Hotel, as well as nice roadside cafes for breakfast or lunch.

There are three golf courses nearby for you to play: The Belmont Golf Course, the Fairmont Southampton Golf Club and the Port Royal Golf Course are all within a few minutes of the property and each offers its own unique challenge.

A Sandy’s location is considered to be a very attractive option for visitors. Although the locations in the closest proximity to the beaches of the South Shore tend to be in the most demand, the 23 mile length of the island and its width of less than a mile in most places means that access to those beaches is easy by bus or by moped, and that’s only after you have savoured the pretty beaches in the immediate area…

Sandys has the advantage of being close to ferry stops at Rockaway (20 min walk away), and the charming village of Somerset where shops and cafes makes lingering for a while a very pleasant diversion. The remarkable renovated installation at the Naval Dockyard property (a British Navy base built in the early 1820’s) has created a plaza and shopping concourse as well as a series of excellent museums, pubs, artists workshops, book stores and the like as well as the hugely popular DOLPHIN QUEST operation- and another ferry stop as well as a terminus for the bus system. These shops and museums operations are all neatly contained in spectacularly restored historic buildings dotted throughout a park setting on the furthest west end of the island. Fast ferries and buses depart and arrive from the Dockyard facility all day long. The views from The Commissioner’s House are from one end of the island to another, with ocean liners sedately negotiating the Two Rock Passage, the sole opening in the reefs large enough to provide safe access to Hamilton Harbour. A visit to Bermuda without seeing Dockyard would not be complete.

The City of Hamilton also has lovely places to dine and shop, and in the summer months through to October, Harbour Nights on Front Street on Wednesday evenings is a sparkling outdoor market event. The city is easily reached by bus, ferry or moped, with taxis available to whisk you away home at the end of the evening.

We encourage you to bring along a box of frozen and prepared treats. You can import all foodstuffs for personal use without difficulty providing you do not bring in fresh produce or fresh seafood. Bringing coffee, tea, biscuits, condiments, tinned and packaged delectables as well as frozen steaks and fish will save you time, trouble and expense upon arrival. On your way in from the airport, I suggest you have your taxi driver stop off at the nearest market to pick up perishables such as milk, eggs and baked goods.

Flight information (both arrival and departure) is absolutely necessary for guests to provide.

The house has 2 tiny apartments on the pool level – completely separate from the rented house and sharing NO common space. Access and egress from these units are completely separate from your living space. These units are used by the owner or her father occasionally throughout the year, when he is not at his home abroad and when the owner is not staying with family. She prefers to stay with family when guests are in residence in an effort to ensure your privacy. The pool area is never used by the occupants of these apartments and is solely for the use of guests staying at W59.

We are all safely back home after a great trip. W59 is a beautiful home and contributed in great part to our trip. The boys loved the pool and the adults loved the amenities. Thanks for your help.

Treasured visit

Absolutely amazing home and decor - loved every part of it. It is remote from everything except a small market (which was a real bonus) and so required cabs to get anywhere, which got quite pricey. The recommended driver was wonderful, however, and always on time. We couldn't believe he could back into the pickup area as it was a tight negotiation on a steep grade, but he always managed. The owners were not present when we were there so we had complete privacy - heavenly for sure!

Perfect place

Our family traveled from Mississippi for our first visit to Bermuda in May. I was a bit hesitant to use Bermuda Rentals when I first found this house on the internet. Since they weren’t a well known house rental site, I was a bit apprehensive. But rest assured... it is totally legit. Everything about them was professional and they made the booking process so easy. And the pics of the house are accurate. In all the reviews I read about this house no one mentioned the master Shower. Let me just say it is awesome! Never been in one quite like it! The house a perfect size for a large family. It’s located in a perfect spot in the edge of the water! We like to walk to water’s edge and just sit on the rocks. We bought the bus pass for all, but tried scooters later in the week and loved them(all of us are adults). If we had it to do over we would Not have gotten bus pass..only scooters. They were so convenient. We rented from nearby dealer that is a short walk to the right when you get to bottom of hill. His business is on left side of road. Can’t remember the name, but owner was really good to us. There is also a market at the bottom of the hill that has almost anything you will need. The prices were not too bad either. Our favorite beach was Warwick Long Bay beach. It was beautiful and not nearly as crowded as Horseshoe. All the restaurants we ate at were great. It is a beautiful island and I hope we can return someday!

Simply The Best

My wife and I were fortunate enough to stay for New Years week with our two older boys and their girlfriends. To say this was a great vacation would be an understatement -- The pictures of the home can't capture how beautiful the setting is as well as just how special the house itself is. The owners ( who happen to be amazingly nice people ) built their dream house and thought of every detail --- the house is breathtaking from the moment you walk through the front door and take in the view and gets better wether your relaxing in the living room, cooking in the gourmet kitchen, playing down in the theater/game room or have snuck away to your bedroom all complete with water views. We were blessed with amazing weather all week and the grounds are as special as the inside ... the infinity pool is a great place to spend the day lounging and the sunsets are spectacular. The path down to the ocean is an easy stroll and I enjoyed morning coffee there every day while watch schools of parrot fish swim by ... the kids swam/snorkeled there most days as well. It was tough to pull ourselves away but when we did all the best beaches were a short 10-15 minute cab ride away(or their is a bus stop that is a five minute walk) -- The owners work with a driver named Jason who could not be more accomodating in both air port pick up and driving us whenever needed. It is also a five minute walk to a grocery/package store if you run low on Rum Swizzle. This was hands down one of the best vacation experiences we have ever had!!

My husband and our 2 youngest adult sons spent 11 heavenly days at W59! The house was exceptional, so clean, a wonderful layout and even better than the pictures! The pool was spectacular and we swam and snorkled right off the back of the house multiple times a day! We have been going to Bermuda for over 33 years and this is one of the loveliest places we have stayed! It has spoiled me for staying anywhere else in Bermuda! The hosts were lovely, attentive when we needed something, but not obtrusive. You will not be disappointed in any way by W59! I can't wait to go back!

Beautiful place

We are all home again and still talking about our wonderful vacation in Bermuda. Thank you so much for allowing us to share your beautiful home. When we arrived from the airport and came out of the shaded drive the view took our breath away – and continued to do so every time we arrived whether from the bus stop or by cab. It was magnificent and so is the house! The pictures on Bermuda Rentals just don’t do it justice. We each found a favorite spot to sit and read or enjoy the view. I’m not sure whether the grandchildren enjoyed the pool or walking down to watch the parrot fish more. Every morning they walked down with their grandfather to check on the fish. It was such a special time for all of them. The referred taxi driver is a gem. Before we left we sent him a list of all the times we knew we would need him and he was always there right on time. He even came to rescue us when we got stuck at Dockyard one evening after the last bus had left. We enjoyed every ride with him and always learned something new saw something different or found some new place to try for a meal. This was a 50th anniversary trip for us and it was extra special because we had the whole family there in your lovely home. We have been to Bermuda many times, but this was one of our best trips. It was our children’s first trip to the island, but it won’t be their last. Thank you again for allowing us to be there in your home.

Words can’t even express how pleased we were with this home !! They were 9 of us who stayed at this beautiful home for a week to celebrate my husband’s ( their Dads 60th bday ) the youngest 25 the oldest 60. The suggested taxi driver picked all of us up at the airport took his time and pulled over numerous times for us to take in the beautiful scenic views. We also were able to contact and request him throughout our stay for transportation. There was more than enough space for all of us comfortably at this home . Family quality time at its best , family game night ( numerous board games ( in the dining room buffet ) and dvds down stairs ) , The home is very well maintained , the island is beautiful , the people are very friendly , helpful, courteous and accommodating !! So much to do and see one week was def not enough ! Looking forward to booking next year , Thank you for opening your home to our family , such a great experience and memoirs that will be with us a lifetime !!!!

The best thing about the house.... I keep trying to think of what might be the very best, but I can't choose!!!!!! The house itself (as you know) is AMAZING! The VIEWS, the WINDOWS and THEIR views, the STAIRCASE, the feeling you have being in the house, the spaciousness, the deck off the dining room (where everyone in our group, from the four teens to we three adults, sat every single morning with coffee, breakfasts, mornings hellos - it's where you knew you could find people,) the beautiful master bath.... Then, there is the fact that BEING ABLE TO WALK TO THE OCEAN at any given moment, was exactly what we wanted. THE POOL and POOL DECK area are more than just a pool and hang out place - they too give a feeling of luxury when you are there. The layout, the furniture facing the ocean, the pool is the perfect size and fun to dip into whenever someone wants, just like the ocean. (The fun of having floaties in the outdoor closet was a plus we didn't know about and really enjoyed.) The curved staircase leading from the house to the pool is stunning, Speaking of the pool, I knew it was going to be a hit however had no idea it was as much as it was - by everyone in our group!!! We would use it in the morning, go out and do something and come back looking SO forward to being able to jump in the pool again, use it later in the day.... go down to snorkel.... come back to the pool.... We cooked a fair amount in the kitchen so having all the kitchen tools available was great. The games room was fantastic - we used the ping pong table tons, the fuse ball and air hockey a lot as well. So glad to have these too. The giant entry way was such a helpful area with 7 pair of shoes and on the days we went out more than enough space to temporarily put down a few beach bags without having to walk though getting the house dirty or sandy. There are two things I can think of that may have been in your write-up you sent prior to us going (which by the way is SUPER HELPFUL - all those links, helpful tips, ideas and such made everything that much easier.) - and if I missed them my apologies, however, we didn't know not to take glass containers to the pool area outside but the owner kindly gave us a huge stack of red solo cups a couple days in. We were more than happy to not have any glass accidents happen and were grateful she filled us in. Secondly, I would tell anyone else going to definitely take some water shoes, even if you think you might not need them - YOU WILL! Save your feet from those sharp edges in the ocean and just bring water shoes. (We should have bought some when we were there but kept thinking 'Oh we don't need to' and then someone else would get a cut. Nothing major but they really hurt for how tiny the cuts were. Lastly, I have to say we had the pleasure of meeting [the home owners]. They are extremely kind and genuine, helpful ([the owner] drove Rob up to get groceries and drove him back so he didn't have to carry everything!) plus interesting. We enjoyed meeting them and hearing a few things about them. Hope to return one day!
