Locking up is the same prudent exercise in Bermuda as it is when you leave your own home; close the windows and leave the unit secure please. Included are local telephone calls but long distance calls will require a calling card. Check with your cell phone provider to see if your phone will operate overseas and arrange a good plan before you go so as to avoid hefty charges. It is customary to leave a gratuity for the maid.

Nearby Attractions

The property is located a short 5 min walk from the historic town of St. George’s, with a fantastic choice of restaurants, bars, and shopping.

There is the Supermart, a convenience store called “Ample Hamper” and there is also a pharmacy nearby, which is about a 5 minute walk from the property. After a day of sightseeing in St. George’s, groceries can be picked up on your way “home” from Somers Market. We suggest bringing frozen steaks or fish and some liquor/wine/beer with you as you are allowed to import some for your own use.

There are two bus stops near the property, which are a two minute walk, and a 10 minute walk. The ferry stop isn’t far either, about a 5 minute walk from the cottage! There are also buses leaving from the nearby town centre regularly heading over to the west part of the island, including the capital city of Hamilton.

A shuttle service operates into St. George’s. Bus/ferry passes are obtained by stopping off at the post office on your way to the cottage or stepping into the local post office.

Tobacco Bay is a 12 minute walk from the cottage, which is a great beach for snorkelling in the calm waters. St. Catherine’s Beach and Blackbeard’s Beach are both a 15 minute walk from the property, and Clearwater Beach and St. David’s Beach are a 20 minute drive, in St. David’s. In a new 77 acre park called Cooper’s Island (which includes Clearwater beach and the old NASA Station) there is a collection of sparkling sand beaches and endless horizons, turtles, groves of native trees and flowers- just spell binding

The former capital of Bermuda, the Town of St. George’s is just a 5 minute walk away, but will take you back nearly 400 years to 1612. Sites to see, all within walking distance of the property, include: St. Peter’s Church, The Stella Maris Catholic Church, St. George’s Town Square, The Unfinished Church, Fort St. Catherine’s, Deliverance Ship Replica, Somers Gardens, and St. David’s Lighthouse.

The town of St. George’s is the oldest continuously occupied settlement in the English New World. There is a fine park behind the town, gorgeous gardens and churches to explore.

Buses run into Hamilton and beyond to the fabled south shore coastal beaches, Somerset and Dockyard, and there is a ferry service into Hamilton as well. As the island is only 22 miles long, even at the sedate pace of 14 to 20 miles an hour, you can explore the entire island comfortably from your taxi, on the mopeds or by public transportation. These services include excellent bus and ferry service into Hamilton and a shuttle service which will take you around the St. George’s area.

The Mid Ocean Golf Course and Tucker’s Point Resort are less than 15 minutes away by taxi or by bus, and there is Ocean View in Devonshire and the Princess, Belmont and Riddells Bay courses as well as Port Royal as you proceed west along the island.

Suggested St. George’s Restaurants:

1. Wahoos – food is excellent
  2. White Horse Tavern – great tavern food
  3. Griffins Bistro – food is excellent
  4. Mama Angies – good down home Bermuda Cooking
  5. Wong Golden Dragon – great take out

A boat rental or charter will permit you to explore the wonderful collection of islands, bird sanctuaries, old forts and spectacular beaches that are situated in the Castle Harbour area. You can drift down the coast and admire the palaces of Tucker’s Town where the elite from around the world have built their luxurious hideaways. With a picnic and a case of cool drinks, this could be the most relaxed day of your vacation.

Great place

Our stay at the E23 cottage was great. It was a quiet location but super convenient to town, especially Somer's Supermart. It was a short walk to Tobacco Bay and Fort St. Catherine's beach as well. The cottage was very spacious and comfortable. Could maybe use a little more items in the kitchen for cooking as we made a few dinners there, but it had plenty of everyday things like plates, cups and utensils. It was a nice touch to have coffees for the keurig available as well. We were there for nine days and were pleasantly surprised to have a maid service come mid week to do a light cleaning and changed the sheets and got fresh towels. The umbrella that they have available for rent was great as it was very hot when we were there. We hope to be able to return some day. A great place on a beautiful island.

Lovely holiday spot! unplug and enjoy!!

My husband, 16 month old daughter and I spent two weeks at this lovely spot over Christmas and the New Year. It was a great location, close to the heart of St. George and near the local grocery store. We spent many days touring the island (by bus, the stop is a few minutes walk), and had our evenings on the patio. The kitchen has (for the most part) what you need to cook some basic meals during your stay. Being a bit of a chef myself, I felt that the kitchen equipment could have been better, but we made it work. The house is well maintained and was spotless when we arrived. They provided sand toys for our little one's beach days which was so wonderful and thoughtful. The house really did have everything we needed.

Everything was perfect & homeowners were great!

E23 could not have been any more perfect! The property was above and beyond our expectations. It is spacious and clean , and comfortable. On top of that , the homeowners were great hosts! They picked us up at the airport, made us feel welcome and made sure we had a full tour of the house before they left us....not to mention that much appreciated tour of the Mason Lodge before we left which was a highlight of our entire trip. We love history, and to be able to walk through that building and get a complete understanding of it was a great way to end our visit. I just wanted to take the time to thank you for making sure we had a pleasant stay and a great vacation, and we are looking forward to seeing you next year!

E23 and the owners were fabulous! I have been a frequent visitor to Bermuda over the past 20+ years and have stayed in multiple cottages and guest houses and E23 is without a doubt the very best place I’ve stayed. Please be assured I will return to E23 or one of the other two properties adjacent to E23 depending upon how many are in the party.

E23 is a great cottage. The home owner is very friendly and helpful. Its like a home away from home, everything you need is right there for you. Theres also a supermarket, restaurants, and shopping places in walking distance. When I return i definitely will be picking this cottage for my return stay.

We stayed at the lovely and historic E23 Cottage the last week of June 2015. The cottage is exactly as described on the website with everything you could possibly need and then some. The owners are very welcoming and generous, supplying so many little extras. Coffee/tea/hot chocolate, soaps and shampoos, beach towels and umbrellas, cell phone, night lights, good WIFI, and lots of bed pillows and linens. We enjoyed the little patio for our morning coffees and our bbq’s in the evening. As it was a hot humid week, the air-conditioning was appreciated. The location was perfect for us. We had lovely walks in the evenings around the cute little lanes and streets of St. George. The grocery store was practically next door. We could be at the bus stop or ferry dock in a short 5 to 10 minute walk. The 7-day bus pass was perfect for us and I think we managed to see every corner of the island using the buses and ferries. We could easily walk to the lovely beaches at St Catherines, Tobacco Bay, and the very pretty Achilles Bay. Highly recommend you don’t miss the beautiful quiet beaches of St. Davids and the Coopers Island Nature Reserve and for a treat try the awesome fish sandwich at Art Mel’s restaurant in St. George. I think another thing (besides the beauty of Bermuda) that really made our vacation memorable was the friendliness and kindness of the Bermudians. We met so many lovely people. Hopefully we will be back soon!

Highly recommend

This is a great rental property. I stayed here with three of my students while we were working on a project in association with the Aquarium and Conservation Service and it was beyond my expectations. The host and hostess were great, answering all our questions and showing us around. It was centrally located in St. George’s, close to the bus and the grocery store. The facility was very clean and had all we needed to make our stay awesome. I would highly recommend this location as a rental for a small group or family to use while staying on Bermuda. The amenities were awesome. The cell phone also made me feel a lot safer traveling around Bermuda on scooters! Thanks for everything. I will be back (soon I hope)!

We just returned home after a wonderful stay at E23. It is a home away from home in a quiet neighborhood close to everything. The hosts will meet you upon arrival and explain everything to you. [The home owners] are great people. We are already giving info to many friends about this terrific find and we will be returning to this cottage soon. E. and J. Bellegarde
