Since water in Bermuda is collected from rainwater (there is no municipal supply), rainfall is welcomed by locals. It is common for rain to be forecasted, however since Bermuda is such a small island, rainfall often passes right by but not over the island.
Hurricanes very rarely hit Bermuda. In recent years, hurricanes have turned into Tropical Storms, and did no damage to buildings in Bermuda, because they are built using concrete.
For more information about the weather in Bermuda including local forecasts, current conditions, and storm tracking, visit the Bermuda Weather Service website, at www.weather.bm and www.bermudaweather.bm.

"On March 14, 2011 the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard the Aqua satellite captured this natural-color image of the Island of Bermuda glowing like a gem in the Atlantic Ocean. Sandy beaches along the southeastern edge of the islands appear bright white, while the rest of the island is slightly duller white, colored by a landscape rich in human development. In the northwest, an arch of submerged reefs appears a bright turquoise blue."
