Once a simple shipping warehouse and carpentry shop perched waterside in the ancient town of St. George’s, the home owner chose to renovate the historic listed building, built in the 1860’s and long held by his family. With some very thoughtful additions (such as the handsome wrap- around exceptionally deep verandah and the classic welcoming arms staircase), the interiors were brought up to the highest modern standards.
If you love 150 year old Honduran pitch pine floors, robust cedar rafters holding up beamed ceilings, all the original doors and original bricks cleverly reused in the completely reorganized space, you will relish being the guest in this immaculate home. Reflecting the owners extensive travels, the house is filled with accents collected and adjudicated to fit flawlessly into the house. Tucked away on the waterfront, overlooking the harbour and with access to the neighbour’s little beach, you will be close to fine dining, public transportation (the ferry system and bus) and able to walk to collect groceries and supplies.
We ask that guests are sparing with electricity, water, and towels. Extra towels are available but they must be laundered by guests. 2 kayaks are available (1 x 17′ sea kayak and 1 x 23′ double kayak), as well as umbrellas and swimming noodles.
The house has 2 bedrooms, a King in the master and a King/2 Twins in the second bedroom as well as 2 en suite bathrooms on the ground floor downstairs: a spacious kitchen with a French press coffee maker, microwave, Subzero fridge, Viking gas stove and Bosch dishwasher, living room, study and powder room facility on the main floor upstairs, and enormous balcony-verandah overlooking handsome gardens filled with flowers and the beckoning ocean…
Roll-away bed can be provided for a fifth guest for an extra $50.00 per night. There is a local land line phone, WiFi (125 Mbps- the opportunity to increase speed is available if the tenant pays for the upgrade), laundry machines with outdoor line for drying, cable TV & UK Apple TV available, DVD/Blu-ray & CD players, hair dryer and a charcoal BBQ. There are also 2 Twizy car charging stations.

The former capital of Bermuda, the Town of St. George’s will take you back nearly 400 years to 1612. Now a World Heritage Site, the town is the oldest continuously occupied settlement in the English New World.
Buses run into Hamilton and beyond, and there is a ferry service into Hamilton as well. As the island is only 22 miles long, even at the sedate pace of 14 to 20 miles an hour, you can explore the entire island comfortably from your taxi, on the mopeds or by public transportation. For golfers, the Mid Ocean Golf Course or the new Tucker’s Point Resort (with some lovely dining options as well) are about 15 minutes away by taxi or bus. Ocean View in Devonshire, as well as many others further west (see website homepage for details) welcome last minute tee time inquiries as well!
Good shopping, restaurants, the waterfront, museums, churches, Segway Tours, beautiful beaches (Tobacco Bay, Achilles Bay, Fort St. Catherine’s Beach etc.) and the pubs and cafes are all located within walking distance. St. George’s has every convenience for the visitor combined with a beautiful harbour setting. There is a shuttle service available in St. George’s, and the main bus service is about a 5 minute walk and will take you to all points on the island. For the independent adventurer, there are several cycle liveries close by for those wanting to rent scooters or pedal bikes. Boat and land tours are available as well.
Dockyard (at the furthest western point of the island) is another splendid collection of buildings dating from the early 1800’s used by the British Navy to re-provision their ships. Now converted to museums, shops and artisans studios, a trip to Dockyard is a must- and to get there by ferry will combine the pleasures of a cruise, with stunning scenery and a fascinating glimpse into Bermuda’s colonial past.
